OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital Race For A Reason (Tri/Du, Mud Run, 5k Run, 3k Walk)
April 22, 2017

Tri/Du, Mud Run, 5k Run, 3k Walk Athens, Ohio

Ohio University Sports Administration and Athletes in Action are teaming up with OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital to host the 6th Annual OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Race for a Reason. Last year, more than 1,100 people participated in one of the four on-campus events, and the race raised upwards of $100,000 for 100+ charities, non-profits, and student organizations. The OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Race for a Reason is the only event of this kind: combining the competition of racing with the compassion of the Athens community. This year, the race hopes to surpass last year’s totals and raise over $125,000 while hosting over 1,500 participants. Join us in reaching these goals and sign up today!

Race For a Reason offers five distinct events:

College of Health Sciences and Professions Triathlon: A short sprint format triathlon/duathlon (Tri: 500m swim, 25k bike, 5k run; Du: 5k run, 25k bike, 5k run) that begins at the Ohio University Aquatic Center, or at the transition area for the Duathlon. This year’s new bike route takes competitors out of town on the recently completed bike path extension before returning to campus to complete a 5K run. Participants can race alone or team up with friends, family, or co-workers to enter the race as a three-person relay.

Quidel 5K Run presented by Ohio University Credit Union: A traditional 5K run that starts adjacent to the triathlon transition area in Parking Lot #133 in front of Walter Fieldhouse. This course winds alongside the Ohio University campus before intersecting with the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway. Competitors take in views of the Hocking River, Ohio University’s campus, and the Ohio University Golf Course before finishing the race inside Walter Fieldhouse.

OU ROTC Mud Run presented by the College of Business: A 4.5-mile non-traditional race starting in Peden Stadium. Runners cross the Hocking River via the Richland Avenue Bridge before running through the Richland Avenue Park towards Dairy Barn Lane before heading up to the ROTC Challenge Course in The Ridges. Competitors completely several obstacles before heading back down towards campus, finishing at Walter Fieldhouse.

Power 105 3K Walk: A short 3K walk that starts and finishes in Ohio University’s Peden Stadium. This out-and-back course winds along the scenic Hockhocking Adena Bikeway towards OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital before turning around to return to Peden Stadium.

Ohio Alumni Association Remote Race presented by OU-HCOM: The Remote Race provides a unique opportunity for alumni and friends that can’t join us in Athens on race day to be a part of the event from any location. Get together with friends on the morning of April 22 and swim, bike, run, walk, or do some other form of physical activity with a team. Be sure to post pictures using #RFAR2017, to join the conversation and share your remote race experience.
