Miami Man Training Blog

In an effort to help keep me accountable to my buildup to the November 8th MiamiMan Half Ironman I've decided to share my 7 week training buildup on my blog.  Since all my training buddies are calling it a season or have just a race or two left I'm counting on HFP's finest to keep me motivated and focused on the goal.

It's always nice to look back to where you came from. Whether that's when you first got started in triathlon, your first race or when you did you first brick workout.  Usually you feel like you've came a long way (baby!) and now you train smarter, rest more and have a much better bike.

What a great time training I had at the Helen, Georgia Training Camp - a certain annual event for Team HFP Racing. I got to do some awesome training at an amazing venue.  Thanks so much to my wife Jennifer for letting me escape from dad duties for a week and a big thanks to the campers that never complained even when bad weather dealt us a really bad hand.

For those of us living in the Midwest, the wait for Spring can be tough and this year our winter has been very tough to deal with as a multisport participant.  So far I've spent every Saturday indoors with my Computrainer hammering away the boring miles with my trusty sidekick Todd Ricketts.

Wow – how very excited I am about the 2009 racing season.  Personally, I get to tackle the Wheelie Fun Series as an official Master Triathlete and as a race director I get to bring back a race venue that has major historical significance in the Ohio multisport racing scene.
